Being Bold

For those of you who know me, I can be on the quiet side – naturally more comfortable behind the scenes than in front of an audience. It has taken many many years for me to practice stepping into the light as a professional, being bold and taking risks.

One of the things I’ve learned on this journey is that…

It does no one any good for you to play small.

It may feel safer in the moment, but in reality, the best thing we can do to really make the world a better, more loving, more engaged place is to play full out, no matter how terrifying it may be.

Our dysfunctional world needs passionate, vulnerable, messy, people who take risks to launch all of us into a new place – as individuals and as a collective society.

So, I practiced this and did something that terrified me.

I made a video to share my coaching practice – and then I posted it on Youtube.

I worked with the wonderful team at Intercultural Productions – Lauren Willis and Alex Gomez, who are truly experts in their craft – to pull together a short video sharing how and why I do the work I do, with some feedback from clients and colleagues.

One of my biggest takeaways from this process is that being scared is actually good for us. It pushes us through our stuck points – that are typically not actual warning signs from our bodies that danger is imminent, but rather signs that we are human and that life is a roller coaster that ebbs and flows in pleasure and pain.

When we try to skip the uncomfortable parts of life, we also miss out of the grandest parts of life.

So, without further ado, I share my video with you. Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments and keep your eyes peeled for monthly video blogs coming later this month.

And, if your (natural and healthy) fear is keeping you stuck somewhere in your life, I’d love to talk!
